Frequently Asked Questions

Everyone's pain tolerance is different, but most clients say it's much less painful than they expected. I use high-quality hot wax that grips the hair, not the skin, which makes a big difference. The more regularly you wax, the finer and sparser the hair grows back, so it gets easier every time. First-timers are always welcome and I'll talk you through everything before we start.

About a quarter of an inch, roughly the length of a grain of rice. If you've been shaving, that's usually a couple of weeks of growth. If the hair is too short, the wax can't grip it properly. If it's been a while and it's quite long, don't worry, I'll trim it down before we start.

A Hollywood removes all the hair, front and back. A Brazilian removes most of the hair but leaves a small strip or triangle at the front. Both include the bikini line and back area. If you're not sure which one you'd prefer, just ask when you arrive and we can chat about it.

Just make sure the hair is long enough (about a quarter of an inch, the length of a grain of rice). Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, swimming and heavy exercise on the day of your appointment. Don't apply any lotions, oils or deodorant to the area being waxed. If you're having a facial wax, come with clean skin and no makeup on the area. That's it!

For the first 24-48 hours, avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming, sunbeds and tight clothing on the waxed area. Don't apply perfumed products, deodorant or fake tan. Exfoliate gently after 3-4 days to prevent ingrown hairs, and keep the skin moisturised. I'll go through all of this with you after your treatment.

Yes, absolutely. Just wear a tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment. It's worth knowing that you might be a little more sensitive around this time, but it's completely fine to go ahead.

Yes, waxing is safe during pregnancy. Your skin may be a bit more sensitive due to hormonal changes, but I'll take extra care. Many of my clients come in throughout their pregnancy. If you have any specific concerns, have a quick chat with your midwife first.

Yes! I offer a full range of men's waxing including chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs and intimate waxing. More and more men are choosing waxing and you'll be made to feel just as welcome and comfortable. Check the services page for the full men's price list.

Yes, I offer waxing for teens aged 13 and over. Under-16s need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. I understand this can be a first experience for young people, so I make sure they feel comfortable and explain everything step by step. See the teens section for pricing.

Every 4-6 weeks is ideal. This gives the hair enough time to grow back to the right length for the wax to grip. Over time, regular waxing weakens the hair follicle, meaning less hair grows back and it becomes finer and softer.

BIAB (Builder In A Bottle) is a gel-based overlay that strengthens your natural nails and gives them shape and durability. It's great if you want to grow your own nails with added protection. Gel nails are a colour overlay that gives a high-gloss, chip-resistant finish for 2-3 weeks. Both are available with or without extensions.
